every monday is blue

i feel like this blog should have a theme or something...not just "whatever i choose to type as soon as i sit down at the computer."

i love the differences between the different neighborhoods in berlin. it's the most fun to take crosstown buses and watch one neighborhood blend into another. even though neighborhoods were very different in hong kong (esp in. kowloon), it was hard for me to tell where i was just by walking through.

oh i am so excited!! i found about this one org that mentors turkish students and i wrote the founder saying that i wanted to help him out. at first he didnt have anything to do for me, since the organization is based in bochum (other side of the country from berlin! *tear*), but just yesterday he wrote me with some things i might be able to do...he seemed really excited about the prospect of me translating his website into english (*bleck*) but also said that i could start with the actual mentor projects in berlin. awesome!

here's a video of him talking about his project (auf deutsch)

it's SO COOL how easy it is to be socially conscious/healthy here. i love how almost every place i go to is locally owned (...hmm, except for maybe my local supermarket...) AND cheap. everybody wins.

pictures of my monday hangout spot. one of the regulars said it's a type of neighborhood bar that exists more and more seldomly now. ironically, this person travels from another neighborhood to to there, hehee...

you can see the beloved sign "every monday is blue" and you can see the musicians playing in front of the piano...

the backroom where we play pool (if you look hard you can see how worn out the table is, hehe).

a friend of mine complimented me on how my german has improved. we met last about two months ago, (so after language course + a month or so in berlin). that really made my week (even though this was only two days ago lol).
