social calender getting more and more full

i'm not as lonely here as when i first came. i've been meeting new people and exploring more. i've also been trying to "expand my horizons." last night i went to a silent film by fritz lang - it made no sense, but was interesting (and free) all the same.

my friend and i in the pergamon museum. i love islamic architecture/art, so the museum (or at least, the half that we saw) was great:

in germany, they don't use dryers. virtually nobody has them at home. this is such a pain! i hate it. in india it's also common to not use dryers, but there the climate is conducive to quick drying of clothes....here, it can take 2-3 days :-(

one cultural trait of germans is their directness. a friend of mine was wearing a black hat with a white shirt:

me: if you tilt the hat to the side, you'll look a little like michael jackson, haha.
friend: i dont want to look like him.
me: i didnt mean it badly, i just was saying...
friend: but i still don't want to look like him.

yowza! however, i've started to pick up this trait a little. today my roommates and i watched some episodes of little mosque on the prarie and weeds together. they started to put on some "stargate: atlantis" episodes in, and i was like "see ya!"
