so many things to do before i leave im going crazy!
tonight: event sponsored by BP on the environment and jobs. joschka fischer will be there, and even though former politians can be counted on to say nothing useful, im still interested because i read a book about him (well, i started to read a book about him) and because he became kind of famous when the us was debating whether to go to the iraq war.
tomorrow: vegan "volksküche" near my apartment. the "people's kitchen" is a leftist place where you can, as far as i have experienced, eat and dance (but not at the same time). i think it is just a common space for like-minded people to get together and hang out.
friday: meeting a friend who is only in town for two days (with whom i studied in hong kong), and then celebrating thanksgiving with michelle thorne and family...and apparently a dozen other people? surprises in store. friday is also my last day at work.
saturday + sunday: finally pack! i was going to take a bunch of clothes i dont want to india to give away, but instead i'll just donate them here. that'll take a load off my back (literally). i also have lots of random little things to do, like buy allergy medication (mine expired in october, i've been doubling up to get the effects, with weird results), book my train ticket for when i get back from india, clean my room for my next tenant, and say bye to some friends. i wanted to have a small gathering of people at my place before i left but i dont think that'll work out. i#ll also have to send off any job applications i hopefully have done.
the financial crisis is making me sick, really. on gawker and techcrunch all they ever post about these days are layoffs. my mom told me one-third of her firm was laid off. my friend that works at NPR reported that their holiday party is being cancelled (and that there were layoffs). *sigh*
