he volunteered for one day for the obama campaign...

"I saw amazing things when volunteering. The woman who ran our call operations had a long history in telemarketing. She was so skilled that, at least once per night, she could call someone who was leaning McCain, talk passionately and brilliantly, and have them volunteer for the Obama campaign. I saw volunteering stations stay open late into the night, knowing that even when I left around midnight they'd keep working until at least 3 AM, and start it all over again around 6. I saw people who, if they were normal, would be collapsing under the intensity of sleep deprivation. People who should by all means be giving up, but keep themselves fueled with caffeine and hope, even though they weren't paid."
