public diplomacy

the us department of state quiz recommends that i go into PUBLIC DIPLOMACY.

according to the description:

Public Diplomacy Officers are responsible for telling America's story and creating mutual understanding. They manage an Embassy's overall public diplomacy program.

whenever i took the quiz before i would always rig my answers so i got political diplomacy, because that is the career track that can make you into an AMBASSADOR.

but now that i think about it, public diplomacy (interacting with media, portraying the many sides of the us, telling people a nice interpretation of the truth that cant be called a lie) really would be a good match for my interests and skills.

in the german foreign service is that you try all the different tracks (so you rotate for about 10 years) before you decide on one. in the us, however, you pick one track and are assigned to it for your entire career. i think both systems have their advantage

also, the only two german bundesländer (states) i havent been to are saarland and bremen (city-state). need to fix this soon.
